Introducing Becca Macdonald - Jewellery Maker.
Becca is a woman of many talents! She has worked across many disciplines, and was always excited by structure and composition of materials as well as the beautiful pieces of art she could create. Her journey to become a Jewellery Maker has been an eclectic one!
As a student, Becca Macdonald studied Textile Design at Chelsea College of Arts, which she embarked on with an open mind, looking at the course as ‘material design’ rather than ‘fabric design’.
After a career that touched on ceramics, sculpture and metalwork on an architectural scale, it was an evening class in jewellery making that sparked a real passion! The discovery of Silver Clay was a real turning point as Becca's variety of skills came together to play with this versatile and exciting new material. Becca headed back up north and set up her own contemporary jewellery business in 2018 and continues to create all of her silver clay pieces from her home studio in Saltaire. Her jewellery collection is influenced by her multi-disciplinary background and a fascination with capturing the evidence of presence and human traces, the marks we leave behind.
When she’s not making jewellery and teaching workshops, she’ll have her boots on walking the dog and you can guarantee she’ll be the first one on and the last one off any dancefloor!
