These earrings were designed to replace lost favourite earring, I made a new pair in a similar design, and simply converted the original single earring into a necklace.
This is a great solution for the age old problem of a 'lost earring'. Unfortunately replacing the lost one is not as easy as it sounds. If it's a piece made by someone else, we jewellers might not know exactly how it's been made or the materials or the dimensions of the materials may not be readily available. The original piece might have been made using a technique that we, as handmade jewellery makers, don't access as they are mass production processes or best used for small batch production. There is also a potential colour difference between the old and the new earring, as precious metals, like all things in life, change over time. Overall it is usually simpler, quicker and more cost effective to make a new pair.
However all is not lost! We are really good at taking an idea and creating a new take on it. Something much loved can be remodelled or interpreted in a new way. A single earring often makes a great necklace or a component of a necklace, or we can create a fabulous deliberately 'mismatched' pair of earrings. In this case I created something new inspired by the original spiral earrings, which were shorter, with more slimmer strands and had an oxidised finish. I think these turned out beautifully!
Commission prices for silver start around £100, the process from final decisions to delivery is around 4-6 weeks. These earrings cost £150
