Wave Draughts Piece Brooch by Leigh Shepherd
A quirky, contemporary upcycled brooch created from a vintage wooden draughts piece.
This brooch has been handmade with Chiyogami paper, this is a Japanese silkscreen paper traditionally used in bookbinding and artwork. The design is inspired by ocean waves, a theme which runs throughout Japanese art.
Vintage wooden draughts (checkers) pieces are used to create each brooch. These vintage tiles often have a lovely patina with the turned wood visible on the reverse.
A layer of glossy resin gives the brooch a beautiful shine.
A safety catch securely fastens the brooch to a favourite top, coat or bag.
The jewellery is handmade in Haworth, West Yorkshire.
A pendant and earrings are available in this design.
As vintage draughts pieces are sourced slight variations in size occur, as a guide they are approximately 3.75 cm in diameter.
Your brooches will be wrapped in tissue paper and twine. A care card will be included.
A product care card is included with your purchase.
