News from the jewellers bench. 'Letting go' TW: Bereavement and loss of a parent.

A story from the jeweller's bench.
(TW: Bereavement and loss of a parent.)

Simon and Michelle come to see me, Michelle had recently lost her Dad, her Mum having passed away already. Simon and Michelle have nurtured a strong and loving family, and they were looking to have a piece of jewellery made to honour the memory of Michelle's parents, importantly with their birthstones included in the piece.

Michelle and I talked at some length, she asked me to design something to reflect where she was in her journey of grief. We discussed how the process of having something made was a cathartic part of that journey, how she felt as if she was 'letting go' with love and peace in her heart.

Making memorial jewellery is an honour and a responsibility. I feel privileged to be asked to make such pieces.
